PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

I have 22 years corporate experience managing Extreme/High Risk HSSE Operations within the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia on behalf of major western companies. I have applied my substantial skills in the last 15 years within the Petrochemical/Gas & Oil Industries. A MSc university graduate, present robust constructed reasoned business arguments for security solutions, and am fully at ease presenting such solutions at Board level. I am an honest and composed natural leader, with a highly developed sense of determination.

 

I maintain a good sense of humour which was developed from serving 22 Years in the British Army, 14 of which were with B Squadron 22 Special Air Service (SAS). I reached the rank of Warrant Officer Class II where I received a queens gallantry award for bravery. I hold a Professional certification in Certified Crisis Management Professional (CCMP).


I am also an experienced Tier 1 trainer specialising in Security and Situational Awareness incorporating confrontation. My experience has ensured that my current organisation has retained an exemplary record under my control, of 15 years without a security incident against any of our staff worldwide.  

 

I have many years’ experience in the management of personnel. I am with particularly interested in the training and development of teams and individuals, aided by a personable nature and excellent communications skills. VIP Protection and Conflict Management, Active Shooter, and all aspects of Kidnap and Ransom are all subjects that I teach to Tier 1 level.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 
SBM OFFSHORE - GROUP SECURITY WORLDWIDE

Dates: Apr 2007 to July 2022
Location: Based in The Netherlands, and covering Nigeria, Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, India, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Guyana.  Note: In 15 years operating in High Risk waters, I have had zero security incidents recorded against SBM personnel or assets, and minimal security incidents against staff worldwide!

  • Conduct country security assessments worldwide at all SBM locations and new locations including Mexico, Libya and numerous Middle Eastern countries.

  • Conducting visual security audits identifying vulnerable areas and implementing any physical security measures that are needed to mitigate risk.

  • Security/Situational Awareness Training worldwide, addressing any areas of deficiency where SBM personnel are at risk (Zero personal security incidents worldwide in 16 years).

  • Compiling intelligence reports and conducting analysis for projects at risk.

  • The development of HSSE Risk Control/Reduction Strategies, both on and offshore.

  • Liaising with government and embassy security representatives. 

 

CONTRACTOR - SECURITY MANAGER WORLDWIDE

Dates: May 2000 to Apr 2007 
Locations: Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Equatorial Guinea, Iraq, Afghanistan and Indonesia.

  • Tengizchevroil (Tengiz, Kazakhstan) Organised and planned all aspects of contingency planning, conducting security audits and training for Security and HSSE. 

  • Chevron Phillips Chemical (Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia) Planned and implemented all Contingency planning including Evacuation for Security and HSSE. Development and implementation of comprehensive risk control policy including full contingency planning for the Middle East petrochemical operation. 

  • Consultancy (Western Iraq) Project manager on a US sponsored task in an Extreme-risk location, first of its kind between a security company and the US Military.

  • Consultancy (Baghdad/Basra, Iraq and Kabul, Afghanistan) Security Consultant, conducting Security Audits, Reviews and Surveys, US Government sponsored task.

  • Consultancy (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) Security consultant to the head of Shell for three months.

  • Marathon oil (Malabo, Equatorial Guinea) Planned all aspects of contingency planning including offshore facilities.

  • Karachaganak Petroleum with British Gas, Chevron Texaco, Agip and LukOil (Aksai, Kazakhstan) Organised and planned all aspects of contingency planning for a multi-national oil/gas and construction company.

  • Caltex LTD (Duri and Aceh province Sumatra Indonesia) Carried out full security audits on behalf of Group 4 (Asia).
